I earned my artistic stripes in Los Angeles, but somehow landed in the not-so-creative world of banking shortly after moving to San Francisco in 2002. Money was great and the work was interesting, but as much as I tried to make the work fit my passion, I constantly felt something was missing.
In 2006, I found a love and appreciation for travel photography. Taking pictures was always just a hobby, but traveling quickly become an integral part of my life. As it turns out, I've approached my craft and the way I travel in a very similar fashion - organize a few details up front and figure the rest out along the way. There's something special about letting go of the need to control or over prepare. I do not stage shots, nor do I provoke outcomes. I merely observe and interact, often times without saying a single word. I look for presence, someone who is 100% invested in what they do or what they are feeling, for there is beauty in that moment. That beauty is what I hope to portray in my work and share with my audience.
In September 2014 I resigned from my job, sold all my assets, packed a small backpack and set off to see the world. I'm not sure where I'm headed or where I'll end up. But the beauty lies within that choice. I am free.
